I’ve been waiting and planning and waiting and waiting for this for a long time.

See, I have wanted a new tattoo for a while.
And then I got sick, and I couldn’t get one, partly because I had no money but mostly because I had no immune system.
So, my g-f bought me the tattoo as a combo Xmas/birthday prezzie.

And then I waited and waited for the immune system to come back.
And then I waited and waited to get my appointment, cuz my tattoo dude has a long line up and I had to wait a couple of months.

Anyway, here is the finished product.
I could babble on about the why’s of it all, but basically, this guy taught me a long time ago that the opposite of fear is faith, and that seems like a good thing for me to remember these days.

  1. Awesome! See you soon!

  2. It’s really lovely….the colors are fabu….and what a fitting celebration of the return of all of those fantastic immune factors…I love that you openly acknowledge faith. You are a marvel and a true mensch.

  3. Thanks, you guys!

  4. Gorgeous Tat, Spike! I just found your blog via cancerbaby. Keep up the great work, my friend : ) My wife has been battling cancer for three years (she was diagnosed on her 27th birthday, Uggh!) and she is always talking about getting a tattoo…I’ll have to send her over this way to see your lovely art work. I love the softness of it, and the vibrant colors. Very life affirming.

I have a saying I always use: “Hope is everything.” I think it could easily be transcribed to “Faith is everything.”

Smiles, and prayers from Lori & I,

  5. Omigod! She’s my favourite Buffy character too!

  6. Jen,

You know, *that’s* why I did it.

When my computer starts, I have a wav file set up of Faith saying, “Thank God we’re hot chicks with super-powers.”

    You see through me!
    Damn!

I guess now I will have to proceed to get “Dawn” tattooed on my other arm.
And then promptly do a wolverine and gnaw it off.

  7. Absolutely love it!!!

  8. Wow! I think that’s hot…..and pretty.

  9. It’s beautiful and I love the message.

  10. Being a survivor of the beast myself I applaud you! Have been waiting for my immune system to rebuild and now need to work on the tat fund. Have the design all ready to go too and know of one or two excellent tat dudes who will do it justice. Onward and upwards! -Barb
